Wrestling Team

This is the write up for my live report.  The purpose of my live report is to show people how Dillion Heinrich, Greg Rouse, and Ryan May´s season went this year.  It also shows how their team did in some of the questions asked.  Let’s start off with Greg’s interview. Greg’s interview was mostly based on how Greg did this season less his team.  Some good things Greg did was pin 6 people.  Greg’s overall record 12-2.

Now Dillon did a little better than Greg did this year.  Dillon did so good he made it onto the Varsity league of the team.  Greg was only on JV.  Dillon is a folkstyle wrestler during the season but a freestyle wrestler on the offseason.  Dillon had an overall record of 11-2 with 7 pins.

Now with Ryan May’s season.  Ryan had a really good season this year with a  record.  Ryan’s favorite match was his finals match at Union County tournament where he went into overtime in the championship to win.  Ryan’s dad really inspired him and his older brother to wrestle since he did it in highschool.    That was a great year for the Sunman Dearborn Middle School wrestling team.

Native American Mascots

Should teams use Native American Mascots

Do you know the percentage of  Native American tribes that agree with Native American mascots? Nearly 90% of Native Americans are not offended by Native American mascots according to George Will of  NewsMax.Teams should be able to keep the mascot if they have permission, not considered racist, and don’t discriminate against players or staff of color.

Teams should be allowed to use Native American Mascots if they get permission from the tribe they are named after. For example the Central Michigan Chippewas have gotten permission and the tribe agrees the name is not racist. The Florida State Seminoles have also gotten permission from the Seminole tribe they feel the team honors their people and their ancestors. Those tribes have given those teams permission to use their names so they should not be changed.

Teams that don’t have racist names should be allowed to use the mascot they have . For example the Golden State Warriors are not a racist name. Most Native American tribes consider the Atlanta Braves and the Cleveland Indians not to be racist.Native American tribes do however consider Redskin and other names to be racist according to espn.

If a team is racist to their players they shouldn’t be able to use Native American  mascots.

Logan Rohrbacher- Live Report

Ethan Merk Live Report

Greg Rouse Live Report

Dillon Heinrich Live Report

Write up:

In my live reports I interviewed Dillon Heinrich, Greg Rouse, and Ethan Merk. I interviewed all of them on wrestling. The first person that I interviewed was Dillon and we talked about the types of wrestling and how good that he does. In the interview he also talks about how many wins and losses he has. Another thing that we talk about is what teams that he plays for during and out of school. When we talked about the team that he plays for outside of school he mentions that it is very rare that you’ll find a wrestling team and more often that you’ll have to play solo.  He also said that he does folk style in school and freestyle out of school. When asking him what he preferred he said that he likes freestyle since their are less boundaries than folk style.

The next person that I interviewed was Greg Rouse and I asked him about his season and what he did during the season to prepare. The first question that I asked him was how he felt about wrestling and he said that it was fun but he could have had a better season. The next thing that I asked is his favorite wrestler and he said Dillon Heinrich since he doesn’t watch much professional wrestling. Next I asked him how long he has been playing and it has been around seven years. Finally, the last thing that I asked him was where he practices at and he said he doesn’t play for a team but just goes to camps.

Finally, the last person that I interviewed was Ethan Merk and the main focus that I was asking him was what his thoughts were on wrestling. I asked hi question like his biggest rival and who he lost and he answered both questions as Lawrenceburg. Another question that I asked him was how he has been doing to improve. And he has been doing little things such as running and lifting weights. Now, the last one that I ended up asking was some of his favorite pro wrestlers to watch but he didn’t seem that interested. I really enjoyed interviewing everyone over wrestling and their season. That is all that I did for my live report.

Jada’s Live Report

I went to the game on May 8, on that Monday. It was at 6:30- 8:00 pm, at Hidden Valley field 3. Where Trojan White vs Trojan Red. The final score was 6-5, white won. The coaches for white team are Coach Roden and Schoch, and the coaches for red are Coffman and Masters.

Major of the beginning of the game was either walks or strikeouts. Lindsey Henson would have to be the star pitcher for white team, white Destiny Robin was the star pitcher for red. Taylor Huffner got hit above the knee on her left leg by one of Lindsey’s pitches. Olivia Uribe had a nice hit to shortstop. There were a couple of outs by tags while trying to steal.
Overall it has a hard game, but fun at the same time.

Yesterday at the reds game.

On Sunday, May 21, 2017, I went to the reds game. I went with my two friends, Hunter and Abe, my dad, and my brother. I got 2 free tickets, because of the straight “A” program thing, so we were really high. So in the 4th inning, we moved to the middle section of the stadium, we were right next to the camera guy.

In the 6th inning, we moved to the 3rd or 4th row behind the beginning row. We were in between 3rd base line, and home plate. We got to move everywhere, because there were not a lot of people at the game.  In the 8th or 9th inning, there was a pitch that hit the dirt, so the ball boy on the Rockies put it in the dugout. Then a player or coach on the Rockies threw the baseball right to me and I caught it. My other friend Abe, caught it, then he dropped it, so another kid got the baseball. Then Hunter who was my other friend, was close to getting a baseball 3-4 times.

Have a great summer!!!!!!!!

Hello, Im Logan and today we are going to be talking about the NBA Playoffs. I am going to be to give a quick update about it. I am going to be talking about all of the results in the playoffs leading up to the conference semifinals. I will go in depth about what I think will happen in the semi-finals and also the one game left in the quarterfinals. To start of my predictions I think that the wizards are gonna come back from the 3- 2 deficit. So I have the Eastern Conference Finals as the Cavaliers vs. the Wizards. On the other side of the bracket I have the Warriors vs. the Spurs.

To start of this section I would like to talk about the Western Conference Finals and I think will ultimately end up going to the Finals. I have the Warriors winning because their teamx is just too good to lose. The only way that I could see the spurs winning is since they have a lot more veteran experience. I have the Warriors winning in six. The other series on the other side would be the Cavaliers vs. the Wizards. I have the Cavaliers in six since no one can match Lebron in the Playoffs. In conclusion, I the FInals I think that the Warriors will win in five games since no one can match them when they have all four of their best players on the floor.

In conclusion, I think that the Warriors are too much to handle. Their core four players are Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson, Draymond Green, and the newest member Kevin Durant. Not many teams can guard their small ball since they can stand outside the three point line and not miss many of their shots. One other thing that is very important is that the Warriors will have homecourt advantage and they are the best team at home. That is all that I have to say so have a good day and goodbye.

Bianca’s Live Report

Hey guys, it is Bianca here! Recently I have interviewed three people about girls’ basketball at Sunman-Dearborn Middle School. I interviewed Natalie, who is on the 8th grade team, Avery, who is on the 7th grade team, and I interviewed Hayley who had gone to the games. I asked each three questions each about the games and what they had thought.

The first person I interviewed was Natalie. Natalie was on the 8th grade A team. I chose the questions I asked her because I think they fit her personality and who she is. The next person I interviewed was Hayley. Hayley went to almost all the games to watch both 8th and 7th teams. The questions I asked helped you understand more about the games and how the teams played. The last person I interviewed was Avery. Avery was on the 7th grade A team. The questions I asked her tell you not only how she plays, but how the teams works and plays together.

Overall both 7th and 8th grade teams worked hard and played hard all season. The teams improved from the beginning to the end.  All teams pushed themselves to do their best and that is what they did. Thanks for reading!

2016 Paralympics

Ever wanted to know what kind of sports were in the 2016 Paralympics? Read the rest of my blog to find out some of the amazing sports played by some amazing people.

Wheelchair rugby:

Wheelchair rugby, more commonly known as murder ball, is a full contact sport. One team has 12 women and men, but only 4 play at a time. The game was invented in 1970. The U.S. and Canada are very big rivals in this sport. The U.S. and Canada are also leading the sports.

Five-a-side Football:

In this game everyone on the field is visually impaired, but the goalkeeper. Outfield players have to wear eye shades to ensure fairness so all the players are playing blind. Since the players can’t see the ball they rely on the sound it makes, and the sounds of their teammates. People stand all around the field to help them stay in the playing area. The Brazilians are currently the world champions, with Argentina in second.

Track:

The 2 fastest Paralympians on the planet are Omara Durand and Jason Smyth. Jason is visually impaired. He runs for Ireland and is the fastest Paralympian ever. He ran the 100 meter dash in 10.46 seconds.  Cuba’s Omara Durand, is also visually impaired, holds the record holder for women’s 100 meter dash in a time of 11.48 seconds.

Sitting volleyball:

In this sport you are allowed to have 6 players on the court. The court is smaller than an actual volleyball court, and the net is lot shorter. The teams are allowed to have three passes before the ball has to cross the net. The Chinese, Bosnia, and Herzegovina are all tied for first. Sitting volleyball was invented in 1950 and has been in the paralympics since 1980.

Goalball:

Goalball was invented for visually impaired World War 2 veterans. Players have to wear blackout mask for fairness and try to hurl a ball at high speed, at a group of bowling pins, aiming at the opposite net which runs across the width of the court. Teams have 3 players blocking the ball.
